How many rooms does The Bull on the Green have?+

The Bull on the Green has nine boutique en-suite rooms above a 16th-century coaching inn in Newick, East Sussex. Room types are: Luxury Suite, Classic Double, and Superior Twin.

Is The Bull on the Green dog friendly?+

Yes. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the bar areas and in selected rooms for a small per-night charge. Please mention your dog at the time of booking so we can prepare the right room.

What time is check-in and check-out?+

Check-in is from 3pm; check-out is 11am. Early check-in and late check-out can sometimes be arranged on the day, please ask reception.

Do the rooms include breakfast?+

Yes, a full Sussex breakfast is included with every room rate, served in the restaurant. Continental and lighter options are available, and dietary requirements are catered for.

What kind of food does The Bull serve?+

Chef-led modern British cooking using locally sourced Sussex produce. Expect well-executed pub classics, a strong grill menu, seasonal specials, and a proper Sunday roast. The Bull was the national winner of the Shepherd Neame Best Food Offer 2025.

Do you serve Sunday roast?+

Yes. Sunday roast is a serious affair at The Bull. Roast beef, lamb, pork, and a vegetarian option, with proper trimmings. Service runs from noon until late afternoon. Booking is essential.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?+

Yes. The kitchen handles gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and most allergies, just flag it when booking so the team can prepare. Sample menus include clear dietary markers.

Do I need to book a table?+

Walk-ins are welcome when we have space, but weekends and Sundays book up. We strongly recommend reserving a table online, especially for Sunday roast.

Where is The Bull on the Green?+

The Bull on the Green is on the village green in Newick, East Sussex. The Green, Newick, Lewes, East Sussex, BN8 4LA. It sits between Lewes and Haywards Heath, about 12 minutes from the A23 and 15 minutes from Lewes.

What is there to do near The Bull?+

A lot. Sheffield Park Gardens (National Trust) and the Bluebell Railway are 5 minutes away. The Ashdown Forest is 15 minutes east, Glyndebourne Opera House is 20 minutes south, Lewes Castle and the South Downs are within easy reach.

Is there parking?+

Yes, free on-site parking for guests, plus on-street parking around the green.

How do I get there from London?+

By car: roughly 1 hour 15 minutes via the M23/A23. By train: London Victoria to Haywards Heath (45 minutes), then a 10-minute taxi to Newick.

Can I get married at The Bull?+

Yes. The Bull hosts intimate weddings of up to 70 guests, with options for full exclusive use, drinks receptions on the green, and a tailored menu. Speak to the events team for available dates.

Do you do private dining or parties?+

Yes, private dining rooms and partial buy-outs are available for celebrations, business meetings, christenings, and wakes. Menus and packages are bespoke.

Do you offer gift vouchers?+

Yes. Monetary gift vouchers, dinner-for-two, and overnight stay vouchers are all available. They are valid for 12 months and can be sent digitally or in a card.

Is The Bull accessible?+

The ground floor restaurant and bar are accessible. The boutique rooms are above a 16th-century inn, so most are accessed via stairs, please get in touch before booking if you have mobility needs and we will find the best room for you.

Can I book direct rather than through an OTA?+

Yes, booking direct is always cheaper. Our rates are the lowest available, breakfast is included, and you talk to the team that owns the room, not a call centre.
